Alcanzando más alto para la flauta dulce (solo flauta dulce soprano)

This is a  course for students who are comfortable playing the notes B, A, and G (left-hand fingerings) and may have had some exposure to using the right hand to play lower notes (not required). In each class meeting, we will practice playing new songs that involve a greater range of the instrument. Song in this class will use B, A, and G, and expand the student's playing range to include the next two higher pitches, C (third space on the staff) and D (fourth line on the staff). These notes, high C and high D, are also fingered using the left hand, like G, A, and B. This expansion of range will naturally lead to the development of greater breath control, a wider variety of songs to learn, and increased facility of fingering. Although it's not a primary focus of the class, each meeting will include review and instruction in basic music reading skills as well as instrument care.

Class size is small to ensure that all students have ample opportunities to participate actively and interact with the teacher. Learning activities will leverage young children's natural inclination to move and channel that to support successfully playing. Simple games, songs, and chants will be used to help the students learn naturally and enjoyably.
