This class is specifically designed as an intervention for young people with reading difficulties, providing them with the necessary support and resources to improve their reading skills. Your child's participation in this class will ensure they are fully prepared for their school reading classes, and I am confident in their potential for improvement. Is This Class Right for Your Child? This class is perfect for struggling readers, English language learners, or youngsters who enjoy reading and wish to read more challenging books. Level III of my improving reading classes is intended for children reading mid to late first-grade books. It's a structured program that ensures a steady progression in your child's reading skills. Children should know first-grade sight words, be able to read books with several sentences on the page, and have a strong knowledge of first-grade vocabulary. The books used in this class begin on a late first-grade reading level and continue to progress throughout the class to an early second-grade level. Students should be able to read books with many sentences on the page and read multisyllabic words. The books we use in class consist of fiction and nonfiction. If your child can read this, "We will do everything together, just me and my little brother. We will go to the orchard to pick apples, and I will help him climb up. We will have bunk beds, and I will have the top 'cause I am bigger. We will play space wars." they are ready for this class. I suggest my Level II class if this passage is difficult for them. If this is too easy for them, I suggest my Level IV class. (See links at the bottom of this page for these classes.) Classes are structured in a familiar format, with weekly book changes and specific activities tailored to the group's needs. See below for examples of the initial weeks' activities. You can unsubscribe for any week your child cannot attend the class and resubscribe if there are spots available. Zoom Expectations: Our guided reading lessons involve constant interaction between the teacher and the students, so it is essential for them to have their microphones and video on during class. Please ensure your child has a quiet background so as not to distract the class.

Children are briefly watching these videos on my screen and you are not required to create an account for your children to watch these videos.
Lista de útiles escolares
You do not need to purchase any books for this class or any subscriptions to any sites. Students will be reading books on screen. However, you will need to purchase a small whiteboard and markers for students to use for some of our word activities. (Please do not use paper and a pencil as it is very difficult for me to see their work on the screen.)
