Experiencia de clase
Learners shall first be cleared by their Physicians to engage in the physical practice of Yoga. In this complete Yoga class, individually tailored for the neurodivergent child, learner will enjoy exploring and practicing yogic techniques, such as poses, breathing control exercises and mini meditations that will help cultivate awareness both in the body and mind/emotions, how to self-regulate, and manage daily stresses while increasing self-esteem. In all of my Yoga classes, proprioception and interoception will be further explored and cultivated. Important Note: CEFR: all levels Week 1 Topic/Theme: Mat Practice: Pawanmuktasana series sitting on the mat, ideal for being introduced to Yoga in a safe and stress free manner, while releasing tightness throughout the body and inviting flexibility in the joints; rainbow breath; mini mindful breathing meditation. Week 2 Topic/Theme: Mat Practice: Mat and kneeling basic poses that gently stretch muscles and connective tissues resulting in a soothing effect to both body and mind; snake breath; mini yoga meditation. Week 3 Topic/Theme: Mat Practice: Basic restorative/calming poses held for a few breaths; humming bee breath; mini self-loving kindness meditation. Week 4 Topic/Theme: Mat Practice: Basic restorative/calming poses including mat, kneeling and standing poses; alternate nostril breathing; mini inner silence meditation. This group of 4 classes create the foundation for a personalized practice and it is structured as a friendly, calm space, where the whole child is met and possible accommodations are made to best fit the child's preferences. The material is introduced gradually allowing Learner to feel comfortable and at ease in each class. In class #1, and then each week thereafter learner will expand on the practices. Space is kept calm by playing no music, keeping the space plain, and lights soothing. Class will start and end the same way each time. Language will be literal and visual cues are given with teacher's demonstrations. Learner's preferences and/or willingness to participate are respected, all within an environment that is kind and supportive. The instructor's voice is mindfully modulated to promote serenity in the class. Class is a cheerful, positive, balancing/enriching and safe zone for your child to create a personal Yoga practice and explore/experience the natural ability to feel well. Starting with the 5th class, the practice is kept fluid to meet learner's present needs. For these reasons, for gauging Learner's interest level and to be able to adjust accordingly keeping Learner safe, I require open mics and video in my classes. This also facilitates a sense of community and engagement with the material. Ongoing class program may be repeated for wellbeing support as each class will include a familiar and refreshing set of poses, variations, breathing exercises, and mini meditations until Learner has internalized the practices and is able to practice without further guidance. There is no requirement for this class. Teacher reserves her right to adjust some of the practices within this outlined program to better meet Learner's needs.
