Experiencia de clase

Are you ready to celebrate Girl Power? In this special class, students will celebrate Women's History Month, International Women's Day and the power of women in our global community. We will draw female figures with the spirit of Rosie the Riveter. Students of different drawing abilities are able to enjoy this class as the Rainbow Friends drawing class as we use mostly triangles, letter, lines and other basic shapes

Rosie the Riveter has become a cultural icon of women empowerment. First introduced in the USA as a government poster to promote women to work in the labor forces during World War II, Rosie now is a symbol of power, ability, bravery and equality for many young women and girls in the USA.

Travel Girl and Rainbow Friends are characters created by Teacher MoMo. These female characters travel the world and explore different culture. In each class, Travel Girl and Rainbow Friends are featured in a unique cultural setting.

The class will begin with a 5-minute introduction of Rosie the Riveter; students will learn key words that are commonly associated with this image (bravery, power, ability, equality, etc.) . Next, students will look at the sample drawing that the teacher has created prior to class. This will serve as the model for drawing a personalized character. By the end of the 50-minute class, students will have a colorful drawing of. 4-5 Rainbow Friends. As the teacher, I will guide students to create a unique drawing that reflects their personalities.

Class Format:
1. Introduction of Rosie Riveter & key words
2. Review of a Rainbow Friend drawing example
3 Drawing of Rainbow Friends by students
4. Optional Homework

NOTE: In the drawing, the girls will wear different color clothing and have different color skin tones; students and parents should agree to this coloring style prior to class, It is important that students color these Rainbow Friends different colors as a way to understanding others and being accepting of others.
