In this class we will continue the 8-part Python course for beginners with new and different types of programming. We will continue to explore APIs, new packages, more sophisticated code, and build collaborative games and projects. Students should have an understanding of APIs and functions to take this course, and have taken the 8 or 12 part series as basic Python will not be covered. Each class will divide our time between looking at examples of new code, collaborative coding using repl.it, and talking about data structures. This is an ongoing club, with the intention of building projects in stages over time. Code and relevant links and information will be shared with learners at the end of each session.

The goal of this course is to make intermediate level students more confident with programming, learn new methods and techniques, and build on their knowledge of Python programming.

I love teaching programming using fun and interesting examples because it helps students go farther than learning hard to contextualize concepts. Understanding what we are doing and why means that students will be able to apply algebraic concepts (like x+y) having understood examples like (red bike + blue bike) in a way that has context and meaning.
