Experiencia de clase

In this advanced 10-day Python programming course, students develop skills necessary for working with APIs, data analysis, and file systems through fun and challenging project-based lessons. The tkinter library is taught to allow students to create more complex projects with graphical elements. Students are introduced to the concepts of recursion, encryption, data persistence, and web development. Students will also review pygame to expand their comfort zone. Projects completed in this course reinforce object-oriented design principles and demonstrate useful applications for students’ newly acquired Python skills. All students will be asked to apply what they’ve learned to create a final project of their own design which will be presented on the last day of class. There will be some reinforcement quizzes for students to complete after lessons, along with review games that will be played in the final class meetings to ensure students remember material and are prepared to take the next steps in their programming adventures. Upon completion of this course, students are prepared to take Machine Learning in Python with Big Data.

Lección 1:
GUI with Tkinter
 Students learn to utilize Tkinter to produce more professional and advanced UIs for future projects. Students will begin making a text editor with Tkinter. Students will learn about file IO in Python.

Read and write text files in python

 Make the game of Tic-Tac-Toe in Tkinter

Notes
  Create tk buttons and assign button commands
Store and access data from a two dimensional grid represented as nested python lists
Use functions and flow controls to handle a turn based-game
Apply lambda functions
Understand how to use the destroy() function of tkinter
Check win states using compound conditional statements

Cipher App
 Students learn about cryptography and use Tkinter to make a simple cipher solver app

Notes
Encrypt and decrypt messages with simple alphabetic ciphers
○    Understand the modulo operator
○    Design a Python class to save the state of widgets in a tkinter application
○    Save data about a Python object as a .json file
○    Read data from a .json file into a Python object to load the saved state of an application

Lección 4:
Recursion Project
 Students learn to write a python script that organizes all files in a directory into labeled folders, and use recursion to further organize files within folders and subfolders.

Skills learned:
○	Make directories and move files using the os module
○	Use the os module to check if items are files or directories
○	Sort files based on their file type extension
○	Apply recursion to solve problems
○	Understand the termination condition of a recursive program

Requisitos previos
15 hours of Python coding experience or having taken our level 1 and level 2 courses on Outschool.
