Professional Power UP: Kickstarter profesional para adolescentes

Growing up can be exciting and overwhelming all at once! This is the perfect time to start connecting what you like to do with what you may decide to do in the future. In this fun and interactive camp, students will explore careers of interest and how to land the job of their dreams. Students also learn common work related terminology to prepare them for career decisions and discussions in the future.

Our classroom is a collaborative community that is a safe space for sharing doubts and excitement related to preparing for adulthood. Students are expected to be respectful to others as they learn together, but also be ready to have fun, crack jokes, and support each other. Students are welcomed to share their personal experiences in class for additional guidance or to help others. The primary goal of my classes is that students leave more confident and prepared to define their future.

Career Exploration
Session 1: Finding "My Thing"
Getting started with a career search! Students will be assigned a career assessment to complete before our next session.

Session 2: Learning What It Takes
Narrowing down a career list to the top 3! Through a fun activity, students will explore their career assessment results and identify the top careers that match their interest. Students will be assigned a quick activity to explore their top choice.


Resume Builder
Session 3: Resume Basics
Put it on paper! Students will learn about resumes and start drafting their own.

Session 4: Resume Review
Checking it twice! Students will review their resume, filling in any holes and making corrections as needed.


LinkedIn Starter
Session 5: Professional Presence (Online)
Show up! Students will learn about LinkedIn and how their online presence impacts their careers.

Session 6: Professional Branding
Standout! Students will further explore how to build a LinkedIn/online presence that will one day help them land the job of their dreams.


Interviewing
Session 7: Professional Presence (In Person)
Students will learn the basics of interviewing and professional communications. 

Session 8: 
Students will practice with mock interviews, playing both as the candidate for hire and the manager.
