Learn how to use your problem solving powers by exploring different types of problems we face every day. Join this recurring class where students will participate in a slide show presentation and a social story using puppets to identify what a problem can look like. While also discussing big and small problems. Students will also have the chance to practice identifying big and small problems while playing a matching game. Students will leave this class with the ability to identify problems and if they are big or small. They will also have the chance to take home a tool to help them remember the topics discussed in this class. This is a great beginner class for Conflict Resolution. After attending this class, students will be prepared to discuss strategies for solving problems.

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will be introduced to problem solving strategies through practice with identifying "big" and "small" problems. Students will learn about strategies for identifying the types of problems with visual tools and a fun play along. Then they will practice these skills while playing a trivia game. Students will then have the opportunity to review the skills learned in the course before saying goodbye.

This course focuses on problem solving skills which are useful across various settings and at all ages. I have had more than 3 years of experience teaching lessons regarding problem solving skills as a School Counselor. I have taught these topics using multiple different curriculum programs that align with most state standards for Character Learning or Social Emotional Learning. Previously, I spent time teaching a special education pre- school class where there was a heavy focus on character learning and problem solving skills.
