In the first lesson, I will evaluate student knowledge and skills and work on a song with the student.
In all of the following lessons, we will progress through the appropriate method book or repertoire. While learning each song, students will learn musical terms and improve technique.
Students set their own pace in the class. Students who spend more time practicing will progress faster but if their goal is to spend limited time out of the lesson, they will learn at a slower pace.
I try to keep lessons fun but stay on track with learning. I want students to enjoy learning piano. When a student seems to not be enjoying lessons, I find out the reason and make adjustments.
Students constantly interact with me during class by demonstrating what they are learning. I also use a lot of visual examples by demonstrating techniques they are learning.
