Class Experience This is a great club for students who are already familiar with using a computer and who are interested in developing or improving their video editing skills. Students will learn how to create short videos for YouTube or to share with family and friends. Additionally students will learn and implement a handful of the basic keyboard shortcuts for efficient video editing. In the week of April 23rd, 2022: We will be creating a video using the split screen feature in iMovie. Additionally, we will be looking at how to edit a video so that it looks like two different versions of the same person in the same video holding a conversation. In the week of April 30th, 2022: This week will be all about a project where we will have to use the speed editor to speed up clips. We will practice the keyboard shortcut for this feature and also a couple other ways of accomplishing this effect. In the week of May 7th, 2022: In this class, we will create a traveling update video. This video will use a background map to show where and how far the person travelled. We will combine a lot of different skills together to make a cool story. In the week of May 14th, 2022: This class will be all about using audio effects in your video project and how to line them up to sound good matching with the moment in the video. This work will be part of a project that will involve a lot of other iMovie skills. Teaching Material and Style During each class, I will be asking the students questions to find out their goals and interests. Because this is an ongoing class meeting every week and because video projects can take a long time to finish, I expect the same students to keep coming back and working through their projects together. I aim to have a balance between learning and having fun. Since my experience video editing is mostly in iMovie, Movavi and OpenShot I am able to give instruction and guidance on these software programs. If you are looking to learn with a different program, you can find other teachers with those offerings. In order to participate in this class, all learners will need to have access to a Macintosh (Mac) computer with the free iMovie program installed. We will use this program in the class. I will be sharing my screen during the lessons to show examples and explain the editing skills and features.
