My approach involves analyzing my students' games to identify their weaknesses, and then creating targeted lecture and training materials to address those areas. I believe the best way to improve at chess is a serious focus on weak points. We start by reviewing games and determining where each student's greatest difficulties lie in chess. I have a variety of exercises for each area, and areas are updated as students improve and play more games.

What Will Be Taught?
Students will learn a range of chess concepts including openings, middle-game strategies, endgame techniques, and tactical patterns. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills through the game of chess.

Chess fundamentals (piece movements, basic rules)
Opening principles and common openings
Middle-game tactics and strategies
Endgame techniques
Analyzing famous games and understanding grandmaster strategies
Customized topics based on individual student needs
Class Structure
Each class is structured to include a mix of lectures, interactive activities, and practice games. Here’s a typical breakdown:

Introduction and Review: Brief review of previous lessons and addressing any questions.
Lecture: In-depth discussion on the day's topic, using slides and video clips.
Interactive Analysis: Review of students’ games to identify strengths and weaknesses.
Practice Games: Students play games to apply what they've learned, with real-time feedback.
Discussion: Open floor for questions, clarifications, and strategic discussions.
Homework and Challenges: Assignments or puzzles to solve before the next class.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is positive, patient, and supportive. I strive to create an engaging and inclusive environment where every student feels comfortable to ask questions and express their thoughts. I focus on interactive learning, encouraging students to think critically and independently.

Looking forward to guiding you on your chess journey!

Hello! My name is NM Darian Nguyen, and I'm passionate about teaching chess to students of all ages and skill levels. Here’s a little about me and what you can expect from my classes:

Classes I Teach:
I specialize in teaching chess to kids aged 5 and older, offering classes that range from beginner to advanced levels. My classes are designed to be engaging and educational, focusing on improving strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and a love for the game. Additionally, I host weekly competitive online tournaments for my students to help them apply their skills in a fun and challenging environment.

Professional Background:
I have been playing chess since the age of 4 and achieved the title of National Chess Master at 16. I am a multiple-time Arizona State Champion and placed 2nd at the K-12 Scholastic Championship in 2016. Over the past six years, I have taught chess to students locally and internationally, preparing them to compete at national levels. Many of my students have won state championships, and I’m proud to have coached two players who now compete for the Taiwanese girls national chess team. Recently, I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Sales.

Values and Teaching Philosophy:
My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a positive and encouraging environment where students can develop both their chess skills and their confidence. I believe in personalized instruction tailored to each student's unique strengths and areas for improvement. My goal is not only to teach chess but to instill a lifelong passion for learning and critical thinking.

Fun and Personal:
When I’m not teaching or playing chess, I enjoy exploring new cuisines and cooking up new recipes in the kitchen. I also love working out , which helps me stay active and inspired. I’m excited to share my love for chess with you and help you achieve your chess goals while having a great time!

I look forward to meeting you in class and embarking on this exciting chess journey together!
