Nivel Beginner
This is an ongoing class that allows learners to focus on the knitting skills that interest them. From total beginner level to intermediate knitter, we can find new skills and projects to tackle together. Week one will be all about getting to know your learner and their goals. If your learner already has needles and yarn, bring them! We can jump right into their preferred project in the very first class. Learners with more specific project ideas are also welcome to wait until after the first class to buy any supplies they might need. You are always welcome to send me a message before or between classes with any questions you may have. Here is an example of what a class COULD look like (varies by skill level): Week one- Introductions and planning, begin basic skills Week two- Learning new stitches and refining technique Week three- Learn how to keep edges straight and begin a simple project Week four- Troubleshooting project problems and learning new skills Week five- Either continuing or finishing up project and discussing what's next If your student is a beginner we would focus more on technical skills instead of a specific project in the beginning.
Metas de aprendizaje

Necesidades de aprendizaje
This class is not specifically designed for students with unique learning needs but I have experience teaching unique learners. For my students with ASD and ADHD, we focus much more on fun, confidence, and pacing as opposed to outcomes.
Orientación para padres
We will be using scissors occasionally in class to cut yarn. Please speak to your learner about safety and/or be present to help them use scissors responsibly.
Lista de útiles escolares
Let's talk about supplies! Please read the list and then message me with any questions you have. I will leave my own personal recommendations with links at the bottom of the list but you may use whatever brands you like. **If you have never knit or crochet before, please do not purchase furry or velvet-y yarns. They are very difficult to learn with. You can use them once you've learned to make stitches with confidence. :) 1. YARN. Learners do best with larger yarn and needles. Yarn sized 5 or 6 will be great for class. 2. NEEDLES. Needle size recommendations with be on your yarn label. Typically, needle sizes 8mm, 9mm, and 10mm go well with the yarn listed above. Most students begin with straight needles but I have no issue with circular needles. 3. SCISSORS. Please speak to your student about using scissors responsibly or be available to cut yarn for them. "Ah!! There are too many options!!" I hear you! Below is a list of supplies I personally recommend. These are online links but you can absolutely find these options or very similar at other retailers/in person. Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
Fuentes
Outschool has limits on file size for videos I share. Occasionally, I may send your student extra support videos for practicing outside of class. For this, I may link to a video I made that is stored in Google Drive.
The other option is that I will post a link to a previously reviewed YouTube video in the Outschool classroom page. By posting to the classroom page, your student will always stay on Outschool and will not be redirected to YouTube.
Finally, I sometimes share knitting patterns from online sources. My preferred method is to take screenshots and post those to the classroom so that students are not sent to any websites. If your student is more advanced, I may send the pattern link directly to you so that you may decide if you'd like to share it with your child.
