Clases particulares de clarinete y flauta: instrucciones para principiantes

Una vez por semana, clase privada de 30 minutos de clarinete y flauta para estudiantes principiantes e intermedios. Los estudiantes aprenderán la técnica básica y trabajarán con piezas de los libros Essential Elements for Band.

Tarea

1 hora por semana. Students are expected to practice what was taught and learned at each lesson. Practice makes students more comfortable and familiar. Notes about the lesson will be posted within 48hrs.

Experiencia de clase

Private Flute and Clarinet lessons will focus on teaching students basic skills and techniques! Students will learn several different notes and their fingerings in order to perform different pieces of music. We will primarily use Essentials Elements for Band Book 1 with other resources sprinkled in as needed. Links/Scans of these resources will be provided to students. Students are expected to have a flute or clarinet at their first lesson. Please message if you are unsure about what type of instrument to rent or buy. 

Note: The timeline below does not apply to current students moving from Group Lessons to Private Lessons. We will continue on from where we left off in our last lesson. 

Week 1: Parts of your instrument, proper handling, and establishing the correct embouchure and making a sound.
Week 2: Hand Position and the first notes trio or fab five. What is a quarter note/rest and how do I read these notes?
Week 3: First five notes, half notes/rests, and parts of the staff. 
Week 4: Review: Fingers, beginner songs, and reading music.

Hello! 
I'm Ms. Lexi and I teach of a variety of Instrumental Music classes (winds and strings!) and Pre-K general music. 

My first taste of teaching comes from my experience as a Teaching Artist with the BSO's Orchkids Program working with students in schools that rarely offered general or instrumental music programs. It was a gift to meet so many bright, talented, and eager students. For the last several years, I have worked with several elementary and middle schools in the public school system. I have taught beginner and intermediate students to play a variety of band and string instruments. 

I believe that every student can learn to love music and play an instrument! It is all about finding the right instrument for the student, discovering the music they love, and reinforcing the habits that work for each individual. 

My favorite things to do outside of teaching and music are knitting socks, creek swimming with my mastiff and discovering a great new read at Barnes and Noble.
