We will blast off from earth in our SuperLightSpeed Spaceship and hurtle to the farthest reaches of the Universe. We will explore the Universe and the elements inside of it. Then we will approach our own Milky Way Galaxy, where we will learn about stars, nebulas, and more. We will zoom into our own Solar System where we will learn about the planets, asteroids, and our own star - The Sun. We will land back on earth where we will learn about the Earth and our moon and about the history and mechanics of space travel.

We will do a project every day based on the topic.
Day 1: The Universe and The Milky Way Galaxy - We will make a constellation project
Day 2: The Solar System - We will make a model of the Solar System
Day 3: Asteroids, Comets, and Black Holes - We will make a comet

I encourage parents to let their children participate in the class as much as they can on their own. Your little astrophysicist will need some assistance doing the daily projects or experiments. We start the activity 20 minutes after the class starts.

You will need the following materials for this class:

Day 1: White paper, either black paint & a paintbrush OR a black marker plus a pencil/ Constellation Handout
Day 2: Printout of the Planets, markers, crayons, or paints, clear tape, safety scissors/ Optional: a large piece of black poster board & glue OR string
Day 3: Round balloon, your choice of: 1 tablespoon of dirt, glitter, sand, pebbles, or a mixture of any of these / a disposable mixing container (an old food container works well here), a piece of paper, tape, pencil, safety scissors (note: you will have to freeze your comet in a freezer), & water (It is easiest to fill your comet with water in a sink)
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn about space, the universe, the Milky Way Galaxy, the Solar System, the planets, the sun, and the moon and complete projects and experiments
