In this ongoing class, learners will follow this historic election as Election Day draws near. Each week, we will discuss, analyze, and learn about current events in the election. We're following the security measures, lawsuits over counting, the Electoral College, the polls, the swing states, and a whole lot more. All topics are presented in a neutral, thorough, and energetic way. As topics arise, I provide background information, historical context, legal details, and more to help learners understand the bigger picture. This is about presenting facts, then allowing learners to process, discuss, and make up their own minds. Class discussions are common and engaging, and student questions are always welcome. Learners are expected to respectfully hear opposing opinions, and discuss sensitive topics maturely. The current plan is to keep the class going through the Electoral College's official count in December, and the Congressional certification in January. Continuing the class through inauguration day has not yet been decided and will depend on the events of the election. Join us for this historic election!! ***Learners will be using Nearpod; a safe, free, easy-to-use app that will make our Election Watch lessons more interactive!

Orientación para padres
We will be discussing many details about the political, voting, and election systems in the U.S., many of which are controversial and/or hotly debated. My goal is to always keep class discussions civil and respectful, while still giving learners a place to voice their own opinions on current events and issues. Students will be expected to be mature about controversial topics, and respectful of opposing opinions and beliefs.

A veteran of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps, I also hold both Bachelor and Masters degrees in Legal Studies and have a long, unconventional career working with the U.S. government and legal systems.
As a soldier, I worked as a Corrections Specialist (prison guard) in a military prison, giving me a unique perspective of our military, our diplomacy, and our criminal justice systems. In the civilian world, I spent several years as a paralegal, then 10+ years as a business owner and freelance ghostwriter. I ghost-wrote hundreds of articles, and 5 books, for various attorney's, victims rights advocates, entrepreneurs, government agencies, and law enforcement officers. Each of these projects required an unparalleled level of research and fact-finding, as well as an unbiased analyses and review of complex facts.
Throughout my professional career, I learned countless bits of U.S. history along the way, particularly how it relates to civics and geopolitics. Fascinated by what I learned, and using the research and analysis skills I gained, I've continued my in-depth study of U.S. history and geopolitics for years.
Now, as a homeschool mom, I use my education, career, experience, research, and skills to write my own social studies curriculums and courses on civics, government, law, history, criminal justice, geopolitics, and business. Not only do I teach my own two daughters, but I've been offering live courses in the local community since 2020, on Outschool since 2021, and at a homeschool co-op since 2022. Teaching has become my passion, and I love passing on what I've learned to the next generations!
