In this class the students will learn how to retell four traditional stories with the aid of a story map. Story mapping is a technique that uses a graphic organizer to assist with identifying parts of a story. The students will use a downloaded map to follow along as the story is being told. Then the students will help retell the story using the map as a guide. This is a great way for your child to learn how to tell a story in chronological order. After completing the class students will be able to use their story maps to retell the stories to their family. Day 1: The Three Billy Goats Gruff Day 2: The Gingerbread Man Day 3: The Three Little Pigs Day 4: Goldie Locks and the Three Bears

Three Billy Goats Gruff: There is a mean troll who wants to eat the Billy goats in the story. The biggest Billy goat headbutts the troll at the end of the story.
Gingerbread Man: The fox eats the Gingerbread man at the end of the story.
The Three Little Pigs: There is a big bad wolf in the story. He wants to eat the three pigs. At the end of the story his tail gets burned when he goes down the chimney.
Goldie Locks and the Three Bears: Goldie Locks goes in a strange house. We discuss this is a poor choice and we should never go into a stranger's house.

Hello, I’m Ms. Moira. Recently I found an Autobiography that I wrote when I was in 3rd grade. When answering the question, “What will you be when you grow up?” I answered, “When I grow up I will be a teacher, model, or a rock star!”
Well, one of the three has come true in the literal sense. For over 15 years I taught at childcare centers. I was a toddler teacher, preschool teacher, summer camp teacher, and the Education Coordinator for infant through pre-k students. When my daughter was young, I was a co-leader for her Girl Scout troop. Currently I teach ESL online to children in China and I volunteer in the youth ministry at my church.
Although I was never actually a model or a rock star, this part of my dream has come true in a different way. I strive to be a good role model to all of my students. I model being kind and respectful to everyone I meet. As for being a rock star, I did have my time on stage as a professional puppeteer. I earned my BA in Children’s Theater and Puppetry from Rowan University in NJ. It was during my time in college that I developed a love of sewing. Shortly after graduation I was hired as a puppeteer and costume designer for a local puppet company.
I believe that learning should be fun and hands on! The best way to develop a skill is to practice it. I have experience in sewing, knitting, puppetry, paper crafts, storytelling, and so much more. In my classes I encourage my students through positive guidance and interactions.
For the younger learners look for my preschool Circle Time and Story Time classes. I am looking forward to teaching the next generation of puppeteers. There will also sewing and crafting classes for students who enjoy applied arts.
