If you love dinosaurs or ancient creatures, this is the club for you. In this ongoing creature class, students will learn about a specific weekly dinosaur or prehistoric animal that lived on earth. Occasionally we might look at the overall family or a group of creatures too. Each week will be a different creature out of the literal hundreds there are to discover. We will talk about its discovery, what time period it lives in, its unique characteristics, and other wild fun facts. It will be structured as a power presentation with video clips and sounds (if possible). The end of class will be a time for students to share what they've learned, facts, toys, and ask questions. The amount of discussion time at the end of class will vary depending on how many questions students asked in the presentation of our weekly animal.

My teaching style is interactive and I like to ask students questions and encourage the students to ask me questions (though I will never force a shy student to answer if they don't wish to).

Please be aware that Prehistoric Adventure: Explore Dinosaurs, Marine Reptiles, & Other Animals and Ancient Earth: Uncover Dinosaurs, Marine Reptiles, & Other Amazing Animals! These two classes are very similar, covering the same weekly animal. Ancient Earth is geared toward older students while Prehistoric Adventure is more focused on a younger mixed group of students.

Students are welcome to bring snacks and their favorite toys too. If they like to draw they are free to do so and if time allows they can share their drawing with the class.

No prior knowledge is needed, just a love for learning about ancient creatures.

Students also can drop in and out as they want. I allow flexibility within the age range, as each learner is unique. If you think your child would be a good fit for the class but they are a little younger or older, feel free to email me to ask questions or try one session to see how it goes. Here is a tentative schedule of upcoming creatures but it can change depending on the needs of students within all the classes.

Week of January 12-18: Mosasaurus and other Marine Reptiles
Week of January 19-25: Tyrannosaurus and More
Week of January 26-February 1: More Ice Age Animals
Week of February 2-8: Before Dinosaurus: Dimetrodon and Other Strange Beast
Week of February 9-15: Who Would Win?
Week of February 16-22: Stegosaurus and Ankylosaurus
Week of February 23-March 1: Ancient Bone Crushing Dogs and Other Strange Mammals
Week of March 2-8: Megalodon and other Prehistoric Fish
Week of March 9-15: No Class
Week of March 16-22: Acrocanthosaurus and Other Theropod
Week of March 23-29: Living Fossils
Week of March 30th-April 5th: Pachycephalosaurus and Other Strange Dino

More Creatures Coming!

Parental Guidance

We will be talking about large Prehistoric predators and animals in this class. We will cover topics like what they ate, how they hunted, killed, and how large they got. This could include images or short clips of animals attacking other animals with the goal to kill them, while I will not display any gruesome images, the content could possibly be scary to some children.

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will learn facts about a dinosaur or prehistoric animal. This will include how they were discovered, what they ate, when and where they lived. Other fun interesting facts about the creature of the week.

I do use video clips from Youtube to show the students the animals we are learning about. I will then send a follow-up email to parents that have the video links for students that wish to finish watching. Please review them as some videos show animals fighting or killing each other which might be upsetting to some students, you can share them with thestudentst if you feel they are appropriate. https://youtu.be/1CP1i0UKvb8https://youtu.be/1CP1i0UKvb8 https://youtu.be/UdUcRoQkiJ4 https://youtu.be/1Wg9_iPikks https://youtu.be/HCXJO8BQ2hA https://youtu.be/44JUXPzEI2U https://youtu.be/_8FVpj0p-iU https://youtu.be/hPNufXCNL9Q https://youtu.be/ts-2YZ6Mhvw https://youtu.be/QY1qqZiaTU8 https://youtu.be/__Woo6L1bl0 https://youtu.be/sz1FdgJJVM0 https://youtu.be/lGfh95dERyE https://youtu.be/dsTxoA8bHCg

Hello everyone! I am so happy to be teaching at Outschool. My first goal is to create an engaging and fun environment that will help foster a genuine love for learning. My passion is to help students discover what they want to learn about whether or not it is academic.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and have been working with school-age children for over nine years. I started working as a Youth Advocate where I taught students’ academic, social, and communication skills. This is where I fell in love with teaching kids by accident and realized how life-altering a true interest in learning anything can be. Since then I’ve worked with an after-school program in which I got the joy of instructing large groups of students in creating various arts, crafts, and science projects. Last, I spent five years teaching as a Paraeducator with higher needs students for a local elementary school before going freelance this year as an ESL teacher. My years in the classroom have made me comfortable teaching academic (math, reading, writing), behavioral, and social skills.

Outside of the classroom, I spend my time doing art, writing, hanging out with my family, and playing with my crazy ferrets. My parent also developed a curiosity about the natural world throughout my childhood I spent many days at museums, camping, and outdoors in my youth. That is why I often spend a considerable amount of my free time reading about animals, dinosaurs, and other prehistorical creatures. As a lifelong learner, I spend far too much learning about various topics in many fields including psychology, sociology, and other fields related to social sciences. I hope one day to get my Master’s in Social Sciences and teach at a college.
