I am so excited to learn and move with your pre-k or kindergarten learner! Here at Ready Set Fitness Kids, playing is learning!

In this 8-week course we will cover a number of health topics through fun and engaging lessons while also working on our gross motor skills with age-appropriate workouts. The course schedule is listed below. Each 30-minute class will include a health lesson, exercise/movement, games, and socialization! I can't wait!

Week 1: Growing up Healthy! (What your body needs to stay healthy)
Week 2: Let's Eat the Rainbow! (What different colored foods can do for your body)
Week 3: Staying Active is Fun! (Different ways to get active inside and outside)
Week 4: My Big Feelings! (How to manage big emotions)
Week 5: Healthy Smiles! (Oral hygiene)
Week 6: Healthy Foods and Treat Foods, too! (Basic nutrition, identifying healthy and treat foods)
Week 7: Wash those Hands! (Hygiene and hand washing)
Week 8: Superhero Healthy Habits! (Review and a jam-packed super fun final class together)

Please see the learning goals section for ALL the amazing things your little will accomplish during our time together. My biggest goal is that every child leaves each lesson feeling successful, confident, and loved. See you in the gym!
Metas de aprendizaje
My goal for your little is to encourage a love for physical exercise and health by pouring my own love and passion into them! I seek to do this by providing engaging lessons and upbeat workouts that your child will look forward to every week! 

Multi-day group classes are great practice for developing social skills and building friendships with familiar faces. I never mute learners (except in cases of distracting background noise, etc).

You can expect your kiddo to learn about healthy habits and nutrition (I never suggest that there is only one way to eat! I always refer to foods as healthy or treat foods, and we talk about having treat foods sometimes, and that's okay!). Kiddos will also practice skills to deal with big emotions, different ways to stay active, healthy hygiene, and more!

Improvement in the areas of strength, balance, and agility. 

They will also be working towards achieving the daily physical activity recommendations of both the CDC and American Heart Association. According to the CDC, it is recommended that children and adolescents ages (6-17 years) should do 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, including daily aerobic – and activities that strengthen bones (like running or jumping) – 3 days each week, and that build muscles (like climbing or doing push-ups) – 3 days each week." 

According to the American Heart Association: 

Active kids are more likely to have: 
-a healthy weight 
-stronger, healthier bones and muscles 
-better heart and brain health 
-improved brain function, including memory, attention and problem-solving 
-better school attendance and academic performance, especially in math, reading and writing  
-lower long-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and some kinds of cancer 
-less stress and fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression 
-less inappropriate and distracting classroom behavior 
-improved mental health and psychological well-being, including confidence and self-esteem

Parental guidance is suggested just to make sure your child is staying hydrated and resting when needed. But don't worry! We will take plenty of group water and breathing breaks!
