This course includes a wide variety of sea creatures, and a few freshwater fish, too! We'll explore their characteristics and compare them to their Pokémon counterparts. We'll also learn a bit about how the complexities of classifying such a wide variety of underwater organisms. Please note, marine mammals (such as whales) and marine reptiles (such as sea turtles) are not included in this course, but are instead discussed in the Pokémon mammal and reptile classes I offer. This is a self-paced class, which means there is no live component. This course contains three main lessons and one bonus lesson. Each main lesson has one recording (each about 40 minutes long), plus extension activities to expand your learning beyond the recording. The "bonus lesson" does not include a video recording, but covers a few more Pokemon, and outlines a "Create Your Own Pokémon" project, where learners are encouraged to create a Pokemon based on a real-life sea creature. Need a discount? Sure thing! All of my self-paced courses are "pay what you can afford." To get the discount you need, sign up for the course first, then message me with the discount you would like, and I will apply a partial refund.

4 Lecciones
más de 4 semanasLección 1:
Introduction, Fish
How do scientists study and classify aquatic life? What is taxonomy? We'll answer these questions and start to explore our first Phyla of marine life, called the Phylum Chordata, and the Pokémon inspired by these fishy creatures.
Lección 2:
Fish and Molluscs
In this lesson, we'll learn about some unique sea creatures from the Phylum Chordata that we don't often think of as "fish," such as seahorses, rays, sharks, and eels. We'll also explore the Phylum Mollusca, including octopi and snails. (And of course we'll compare all of these real-life creatures to their Pokémon counterparts!)
Lección 3:
More Sea Life
This lesson includes Phylum Cnidaria (coral, jellyfish), Phylum Annelida (tube worms), Echinodermata (star fish, sea urchin), and Phylum Arthropoda (crabs, lobsters), and the many Pokémon inspired by them.
Lección 4:
Bonus
This small bonus lesson includes more aquatic Pokémon not included in the recordings, and a "Make your own Pokémon" project based on a sea creature. There is no video recording for this lesson.
