How does Meganium's sweet smell calm its foes? Why does Haunter cause seizures when he licks people? And why would looking at Polywhirl's belly make you sleepy? The answers to all these questions (and more!) can be found in our exploration of the human brain. In this course, we'll study the basic anatomy and functions of the different parts of the brain. We will focus primarily on how the behavior and abilities of certain Pokemon can be explained with basic neuroscience. Students will also have the opportunity to design a Pokemon of their own that affects the functioning of the human brain. This is a self-paced course, which means there is no live component. This course contains thee lessons. Each lesson has one recording, plus extension activities to expand your learning beyond the recording. As a "final project," learners are encouraged to create a Pokémon that affects the brain, based on what they learned in the recordings. Need a discount? Sure thing! All of my self-paced courses are "pay what you can afford." To get the discount you need, sign up for the course first, then message me with the discount you would like, and I will apply a partial refund.
Metas de aprendizaje
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
♦ Describe how neurons operate when sending signals throughout the brain and body.
♦ Define these terms: neuron, neurotoxin, neurotransmitter, lobe.
♦ Understand the basic functions of each lobe in the brain.
♦ Identify how certain Pokemon can use their abilities to manipulate the brain through neurotoxins, illusion, hypnosis, and other means.
