🎮✨ Calling all Pokémon fans and creative writers! ✨🎮 In Pokémon and Global Storytelling, students will explore the fascinating cultural inspirations behind the Pokémon universe, from the folklore of Ninetales 🦊 to the mythology of Zacian 🗡️. Each week, learners will dive into a different region’s real-world connections and create their own imaginative stories. ✨𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐨✨ 🗺️ Discover Pokémon regions and their cultural roots from around the globe. 🎨 Design your own Pokémon inspired by myths, legends, and traditions. ✍️ Craft thrilling stories set in unique, game-inspired worlds. 🧠 Learn storytelling techniques like character development, plot building, and world creation. The beginning of class will be a quick chat and a five to ten minute Pokemon writing warmup prompt to chase away those creative cobwebs. Students will be invited to share their writing with the class. We will then dive into that day's lesson. At the end of the lesson, I will assign the homework and the students have until the next class to submit their assignment in the classroom. If we have extra time, we will have free write time for students to get a head start on their homework assignment. All assignments that are turned in on time will be read and reviewed by me. I will provide my feedback and return it back to them.

Miss Devyn received her bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University - Idaho in 2012. She has taught ESL (English as a Second Language) and writing courses for the last 8 years. She was also featured on the Kelly Clarkson show where she spoke about how valuable video games and community are for children.
For much longer than 8 years, Miss Devyn has loved and played video games of all types, especially Pokemon. This makes her uniquely qualified to go into more depth about the different cultural influences in the Pokemon games we will be discussing in class.
