Welcome to my Pokemon themed adding and subtracting fractions class! In this weekly class, learners will review how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators and practice adding and subtracting fractions at the end of each class with a Kahoot! game.
( example: 2/10 + 1/5 )

I'm Mrs. Boham, a certified math teacher, with 11 years of experience teaching, 10 of which were as a certified classroom teacher specializing in Math.

I LOVE making learning fun, and I love to connect with my students to find things that make learning more fun for them. This class is a result of conversations with my students to find out what they like. I combined their interests with a math topic and voila!

This Pokemon themed adding & subtracting fractions class is sure to keep your child interested, and help them improve their math skills!

Class Outline:
• At the beginning of class we will start with greetings, review class expectations and do a math warm up.
• Next, students will participate in a lesson focusing on strategies for adding and subtracting fractions with uncommon denominators.
• As a class, students will practice the new strategies and modeling of the new strategies will be reinforced.
• The second half of the class, students will play an interactive Pokemon themed game of Kahoot! practicing their new skills, and competing against their classmates in this fun math game.

**Previous knowledge: Students should have experience adding and subtracting fractions with *like* denominators ( 3/5 + 1/5).

Generally this is a great class for the following: 3rd Grade (advanced), 4th Grade, 5th Grade, or 6th grade learners although that is simply a general guideline.

Please reach out and message me if you have questions about whether this class is right for your child.

I can't wait to have fun with your learner and help them improve their math skills!

🤗Here's what parents are saying about my teaching style and other classes:

"Jennifer is wonderful with the kids... I've never seen my kids eager to attend a session, so that's a BIG plus. My girls were excited to do the Kahoot activities at the end and for practice."

"My granddaughter has enjoyed this program. Pacing is great. All learners are participating. Good lesson and then she enjoys the kahoot game."

"This was a great class and the teacher kept it fun! I feel much better that my child will be more prepared for the school year and I think he does too. My son also really enjoyed the Kahoot! games at the end. I even think he enjoyed the additional Kahoot! challenges that were sent out after class as well. I would certainly like to sign my son up for this teacher again. Great experience!"

Before you go,...does your child need help memorizing their multiplication facts?
