Students will be given a rubric each week and turn turn in at least one poem to be graded. I will grade the students writing based on the rubric and issue a letter grade for each poem.Experiencia de clase

Nivel Beginner
In this self paced course, students will learn about nine different types of poetry. Each week your video will include examples of published works with analysis. Also, a break down of all the form rules and structures will allow students the tools to write their own poems. A rubric will be provided each week to ensure mastery of each week's technique. Students will submit one poem per week and I will use the rubric to provide a grade for each week's submission. I will offer one tutoring session for students who would like live feedback on their writing for any student who requests it.

Poetry meets story telling in this ancient form of writing. Explore classic works by Coleridge, Burns and more modern ones by Lang. Lección 3:
Haiku
Small but mighty, this Japanese poetry depicts elements of nature and follows a strict form. We will learn from master Basho. Lección 4:
Concrete
Visually unique, this form uses words to create a specific shape. Inspect published works that invoke symbolism important to you. Otros detalles

Some of the examples of poetry that we will explore may be triggering for some students. Some of the topics discussed will be love, death and grief.

Students will need to provide copies of 3-4 random pages in a book of their choice for the week we study black out poems. Students will mark on these pages.
