Experiencia de clase

In this next instalment of creative self-paced piano lessons, experienced piano learners who have completed the Playful Piano Journey series (or another complete Primer level) will build upon their skills with lessons that use fairytale stories, games, songs and rhythm and movement activities. They will receive instruction from an expert, certified teacher who is creative, kind and encouraging and will LOVE their piano lessons. THIS IS A SELF PACED COURSE, all classes are pre-recorded and posted to be done at your leisure, on your schedule. There will be no live meetings. What sets this format apart from my live version of this class? Instead of a 30 minute live class shared with others, students will be able to watch and play along with very detailed teaching videos that they can pause and rewind at any time. They will practice their homework assignments and then have the option to post video of their pieces for feedback and encouragement.

***In order to register, students must have finished Playful Piano Journey Part D, (or Wunderkeys Primer 3 or My First Piano Adventure Book C or any other complete Primer level Piano book) as a pre-requisite as we will be building on previous knowledge and Grand Staff note reading skills.

Students will:
* Continue their exploration of note reading on the grand staff
* Add expression to their music using staccato, legato, crescendo, diminuendo and PEDAL
* Identify and play harmonic and melodic intervals of a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th
* Improve coordination, fain confidence playing "out of position" and explore mid-piece hand movement
* Further develop rhythmic accuracy, a sense of pulse and explore more rest values
* HAVE FUN and learn more songs to play on the piano both by reading and by improvising and even composing

Students will receive weekly pre-recorded video lessons that will include time spent at the piano learning and playing as well as some movement and singing activities to reinforce concepts and keep learners engaged. A small homework/practice assignment will be given each week intended to be used for daily practice at the piano. At this level daily piano practice of 15 minutes per day is highly encouraged.
Each week by Monday 9pm MST, I will post a link to that week's lesson video or videos in the classroom along with the worksheets and home assignment due by the following Sunday. These videos will be a private link.

Homework can either be sent through the communication function of Outschool (email) or posted on the classroom page.
Communication will be done through the Outschool classroom. I will check in with each student during the week to check on progress of the homework and address any questions. Students are encouraged to participate in classroom chat and encourage each other on completion of homework. Personalized video from the teacher feedback will be sent to all who participate in sharing their homework and practice.
A robust learning experience will be provided through OPTIONAL collaborative learning projects like scavenger hunt games and bingo games and composing to re-enforce learning and build community. In addition, students will have the option to collaborate together on a virtual video recital to finish the term.
Each student is encouraged to message me (through the Outschool classroom) anytime they have any questions or thoughts about the class.
Please message me before the start of class if you have any questions.

For this level of piano playing, students should have a 76- 88 key keyboard or piano with a sustain pedal to learn and practice on. Daily practice is recommended for progression. You will need to order Wunderkeys Elementary Piano Level 1A book off of Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/WunderKeys-Elementary-Piano-Level-1A/dp/1793022968

When I'm not teaching you'll find me baking, running with my dogs, spending time with my family or cooking up more creative and fun ideas for teaching.
