Experiencia de clase

#confidence
I welcome learners of all identities and backgrounds into my classes.

This class will be individualized to the unique student's level, musical interests and learning style.
I teach a variety of styles of music, including, rock, pop, blues, and children's songs. The student can have input
on the style of songs that they want to learn to play.
We will explore various styles of playing and different kinds of music, in order to expand the student's musical knowledge.
This class is individualized to the student. I try to accomodate the musical interests and goals of the student.
My teaching style is relaxed and fun, with a focus on the progression of the student.
We will focus on keeping a steady beat, and expand to various strumming patterns and then more complex rhythms.

Week 1 - Assessment of the student's level and musical interests. Depending on the student's level, I will choose materials that will help them to learn and to develop confidence playing the piano. We will learn a couple of simple songs and practice keeping a steady beat. Depending on the age and level of the student, we will do some clapping games to practice rhythm patterns.

Week 2 - We will continue to familiarize the student with the notes on the piano keys, and using the correct fingers. If the student already had a piano background, then we will work at their level. We will learn how to do some simple imrpovising.
The student will learn one ot two new songs.

Week 3 - We will continue with songs and keyboard knowledge. The student will practice playing with two hands, if they are at this level. The student will be introduced to composing and contribute to composing a short melody. We will review correct seating position and using the best fingerings for the position we are playing in.

Week 4 - We will continue learning to play some songs. We will learn about different styles of music. Depending on the student's level, they will learn some chords and practice playing chords with each hand.
We will cover some basic music theory, as it applies to the material we are working on.
We will add onto and "fancy-up" some of the songs we have previously learned.

Orientación para padres
Youtube I will sometimes play a song for the student, using youtube on the zoom screen share. This will be to let them hear how the song goes, so they can more easily learn the song.

A Laptop is best for class -
If it's possible for you to use a laptop or a pc for class, those work the best. It is easier to "enable original sound/audio" on those devices, so that I can hear the piano. (I'll show you how to enable original sound at the class)
The zoom default setting has a filter which filters out the sound of music.
Also, it is easier to get Gallery View on the laptop, so they can see my second device (to show my fingers on the piano keys)
