This is an Intensive 9-week Summer Camp that introduces learners to the basic concepts in high school physics. We will meet twice a week to learn topics in a fun and engaging way. My goal is to make high school physics fun and make it easier in the upcoming school year, whether it's your first or second time taking it. **Please note that this class will not meet the week of July 4th!** Below is the estimated schedule of topics for each week. Week 1: 1-D Motion *Lesson 1: Intro to Linear Motion *Lesson 2: Kinematics Week 2: Forces and Motion *Lesson 1: Newton’s Laws of Motion *Lesson 2: Friction and Motion Week 3: 2-D Motion *Lesson 1: Projectile Motion *Lesson 2: Circular Motion Week 4: Gravitation and Nuclear Physics *Lesson 1: Gravitational Forces *Lesson 2: Nuclear Physics Week 5: Energy and Energy Transfer *Lesson 1: Potential and Kinetic Energy *Lesson 2: Momentum, Impulse, and Collisions Week 6: Energy, Work and Power *Lesson 1: Work and Power *Lesson 2: Machines and Mechanical Advantage Week 7: Waves *Lesson 1: Introduction to Waves *Lesson 2: Sound Waves Week 8: Electricity *Lesson 1: Electric Charge and Electrostatics *Lesson 2: Electric Current and Circuits Week 9: Magnets and Magnetic Fields *Lesson 1: Magnets and Their Feilds *Lesson 2: Electricity and Magnetism My course materials include videos, demonstrations, presentations, simulations and virtual labs, and interactive activities. I have a conversational style of teaching that engages each student. Learners can ask questions and interact with the lesson. **This course will also be offered as a flex course, where there are still weekly assignments but NO LIVE meetings.** The course is organized with videos, activities, and a weekly office hour each week. Students need to have completed Algebra I and trigonometry's sine, cosine, and tangent functions to fully understand the math in this class. They should also have a scientific calculator. And learners should be prepared to keep their notes! This way, they can review them over the next school year.
Metas de aprendizaje
Learners will be prepared for the basic topics in high school physics.
