🩸This is an Ongoing Class and a student may join and drop-in any week of the class. This course will cover topics on Chemistry and Physics. All the concepts will be discussed and explained in an engaging way so that the student is able to understand, retain the learning and continue to build on the learning. The learning will drive student inquiry throughout this course and the students will have multiple opportunities to interact with me throughout this course. 🩸🩸🩸 1. I will be sharing a "Review Note sheet" on the topic discussed in class so that the student may review all that was learned during class. 2. An optional 'hands-on' activity or 'creating a model or prototype' activity sheet will be shared after class. It will require common materials used at home. The student may choose to do this anytime at home during the week and share this during the next class. 🩸🩸 First 3 minutes - Welcome to students and introduction of the topic to be discussed. Next 40 minutes the teacher will share a Google Slides presentation to learn and explore the concepts with examples. After a few slides each time there will be short video clips from credible educational sources that will help learners to reinforce the concepts learned. Students are welcome to discuss and ask questions to make the class more interactive. Learners may use graphics/flowchart/concept maps for noting these concepts. Last 2 minutes students will share their learning with the class, review the topic, discuss and may ask relevant and essential questions as well. Alternatively they will be working on a simulation. If there is a schedule conflict anytime in a week, then please let me know and I will be happy to make the transfer to another section of this class for a different day and/or time if there is an open section. 🩸Since I share videos in class that require permission and subscription, I have permission to play them in class but do not have permission to share them online, therefore I am unable to share the class recording. But I am always willing to make a transfer to another section of the week for a missed class. Thanks.:) 🩸CHEMISTRY 🩸 MATTER and PROPERTIES OF MATTER June 5 to June 11-- States of Matter and Phase Change June 12 to June 18- Properties of matter, Measurement of mass, volume and density, Accuracy and Precision June 19 to June 25- Physical and Chemical Changes, Mixtures and their separation techniques ATOMS and PERIODIC TABLE June 26 to July 2- Atomic Models, Electronic Configuration, Atomic Number and Atomic Mass July 3 to July 9- Isotopes, The Periodic Table, Valence electrons July 10 to July 16- Ions, Periodic Table trends and families CHEMICAL REACTIONS July 17 to July 23 - Acids and Bases, Chemical Reactions, Law of Conservation of Mass July 24 to Aug 6- Lewis Dot diagram, Chemical Bonding Aug 7 to Aug 13- Chemical Formulas, Balancing Chemical Equations Aug 14 to Aug 20- Endothermic and Exothermic Reactions, Combustion 🩸PHYSICS 🩸 FORCES and NEWTON'S LAWS of MOTION July 11 to July 17- Types of Forces, Balanced, Unbalanced and Net force July 18 to July 24-Motion, Speed and Velocity, July 25 to July 31- Acceleration, Momentum and Inertia August 1 to August 7- Newton's 3 Laws of Motion ENERGY and WORK August 8 to August 14- Energy-Types, Transfer, Transformation, Conservation August 15 to August 21- Thermal energy, Heat transfer-Conduction, Convection and Radiation August 22 to August 28- Kinetic Energy, Potential Energy and their relationship, Conservation of Energy August 29 to Sept 4- Work and Power and calculation Sept 5 to Sept 11- Simple Machines, Compound Machines, Mechanical Advantage MAGNETISM and ELECTRICITY Sept 12 to Sept 18- Magnetism and Electromagnets Sept 19 to Sept 25- Electric Force, Electric Field, Electricity, Static Electricity Sept 26 to Oct 2- Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, Open, Closed, Series and Parallel Circuits WAVES Oct 3 to Oct 9- Wave Properties and Types of Waves Oct 10 to Oct 16- Sound waves, Light waves, Light vs Sound, Electromagnetic Waves Oct 24 to Oct 30- Optics, Wave behavior- Reflection, Refraction, Diffraction, and Interference 🩸CHEMISTRY 🩸 MATTER and PROPERTIES OF MATTER Oct 31 to Nov 6- States of Matter and Phase Change Nov 7 to Nov 13- Properties of matter, Measurement of mass, volume and density, Accuracy and Precision Nov 14 to Nov 20- Physical and Chemical Changes, Mixtures and their separation techniques ATOMS and PERIODIC TABLE Nov 21 to Nov 27- Atomic Models, Electronic Configuration, Atomic Number and Atomic Mass Nov 28 to Dec 4- Isotopes, The Periodic Table, Valence electrons Dec 5 to Dec 11- Ions, Periodic Table trends and families CHEMICAL REACTIONS Dec 12 to Dec 18- Acids and Bases, Chemical Reactions, Law of Conservation of Mass Dec 19 to Dec 25- Lewis Dot diagram, Chemical Bonding Dec 26 to Jan 1, 2023- Chemical Formulas, Balancing Chemical Equations Jan 2 to Jan 8- Endothermic and Exothermic Reactions, Combustion
Metas de aprendizaje

I am offering this class because I am passionate about science and the natural world.
I am always excited to observe things and try to find out why things work in nature the way they do. I am also excited about solving problems. I love to build prototypes to test my hypothesis and to try to find solution to a problem.
I have been in the field of education teaching science and technology for the last 34 years and have worked with all age groups of students. I have worked with students with different learning needs and differentiated my instruction based on their needs. I have also worked with Early English language learners and modified my pedagogy and methodology to suit individual needs.
