What will your child learn?
In this class your child can expect to learn how to sort and read words following specific spelling/phonics patterns. We will begin with beginning sounds and work our way through cvc (consonant vowel consonant), blends, and digraphs.

Why is this class important?
Decoding  is an essential skill that has a direct impact on reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension of text.  The task of decoding or pronouncing longer words is often a challenge for many students.

How will I teach?
I teach using the I Do, We Do, You Do structure.
This structure works because it allows the students to see how something is done, practice together with the teacher, and finally practice on their own.

Materials needed: students will need to print the provided sorts each week before class begins. Students will also need a pair of scissors.

Your child will be able to apply the skills learned in the class immediately!
