Experiencia de clase

Has your child ever asked you why the moon changes shapes? This class will show them exactly why that happens using a fun and engaging format. Students will not only learn how the moon reflects the suns light to appear to change shapes, but they will also perform their own fun science experiment using Oreos!

This class will have a brief discussion about how the moon moves around the earth. We will also discuss the way the sun's light is reflected and makes the moon appear to change shape. After this brief discussion, the students will get to make their own moon phases using Oreo cookies.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Doctorado en Ingeniería (general) desde North Carolina State University
Maestría en Ingeniería Química desde Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Licenciatura en Química desde United States Military Academy
I'm an MIT & NC State grad and a homeschool dad! I love all things science and want to help kids learn to love science as well. I've taught my own kids for years as well as Chemistry at the university level. I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry, a master's degree in chemical engineering from MIT, and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from NC State University. I believe learning should be fun, engaging, and spark curiosity and a love of the intricacies of the world we live in. My educational philosophy is that it is just as important to increase a student's interest in science as it is to learn the material in a class. I have five kids ranging from 4th grade to 12th grade, have lived all over the world, and am a HUGE Red Sox fan. I hope to see you in class!
