Presidential pets is a fun look at the many different animals that Presidents and First Families have enjoyed at the White House. From alligators, bears and tiger cubs to dogs, cats and birds, we know many of their names and will see many photos. Maybe the students have the same pets and can share their names and experiences.

The class will show pets that were especially close to presidents and others that were more for First Families. President Richard Nixon once said, "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog." Indeed, pets helped many presidents from feeling isolated in the White House. So, pets help presidents and their families feel more at home in the White House.
