Calling all pet lovers! Come join this pet party and share your animal friend with the class! This will be an interactive class as students discuss what is looks and sounds like to be good listeners and speakers, and they get to enjoy class with their very own pet pals. Students will learn the basics of active listening, public speaking, and sharing as they participate in a share-and-tell with their favorite pet. Learners will also meet the pets of fellow classmates and have the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions and encourage each other. We will discuss what it looks like to be an active listener, and tips for sharing in front of a group. We will practice these skills with a game of examples and non examples. Each student will have the chance to introduce their pet and share 2-3 things about them with the class. Students should come to class prepared with 3 things they would like to share about their pet, in addition to the pet's name. Examples of ideas to share include: age of pet, their favorite toy, favorite treat, what you like to do with your pet, something funny or unusual about your pet, how long you have had the pet, how the pet came to live with you, or even a trick your pet is able to do for the class. Your pet can be furry, scaly, or winged! *If you don't have a pet, no problem! You are welcome to bring your favorite stuffed animal to share with the class to practice your speaking and listening skills. ** If you have multiple pets, please choose only one to share for this class. It is recommended you come prepared with a photo or brief video of your pet in case they become camera shy and are unable to attend the class with your learner. Students will only share the live pet, or the picture, or the brief video during their share time. Length of each student's share time will be determined by the number of students enrolled in each particular class. The goal is for each student to share and answer questions for 1-2 minutes, more if time allows. We will have a lot of fun sharing our pets, meeting new animals, and making new friends. Please bring your pet (or stuffed animal) and any additional props you need to share about your pet. (ie: their favorite toy, leash, food bowl or treat.) It is strongly recommended you also come prepared with a photo or brief video of your pet in case they become camera shy and are unable to attend the class with the learner. Pets, or pictures, only need to be on camera during your sharing time. Also, please come prepared with 2-3 things you would like to share about your pet. Please think about this ahead of time.

I am Kelley Pope. Your learners can call me Ms. Kelley. I have a Masters Degree in Education from the University of South Florida, with specializations in general elementary education and exceptional student education. I have been teaching and working with children for 3 decades. I have experience teaching children from pre-school to 12th grade, of varying abilities. I spent the majority of my time in the classroom teaching second and third grade. I have been teaching English online to non-English speakers since 2017, and I am skilled in effective, virtual learning strategies.
Teaching has been my life long passion. I'm an enthusiastic teacher and hope to inspire my students to limitless learning in a positive environment! My interactive classes are engaging, meaningful, and fun. I use multiple strategies to reach and engage different types of learners, making them comfortable and confident in their surroundings to learn and share with ease. I teach through an assortment of oral instruction, demonstrations, slides, activities, games, modeling, discussion, and hands on experiences, ensuring students have every opportunity for engagement and learning. I want each of my students to come away from our classes feeling confident and inspired.
Many of my students greatly benefit from one on one learning to help grow them into confident, happy writers.

A little about me... I am a mom, wife, and teacher. I am a huge animal lover, and have several pets of my own. When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family outdoors biking, hiking, enjoying the beach or Disney, and exploring new adventures. Movies and game nights are also family favorites! I have a fondness for reading writing, and crafts, as well. I love meeting new students, connecting with others, and sharing the joy of learning.
