Experiencia de clase
Writing is challenging—I know this from personal experience. Throughout high school, I struggled with my writing. Frustrated and unsure of how to improve, I turned to my English teacher for help, only to be told that I just wasn’t “naturally” a good writer. Those words crushed me, and for years, I believed them. By the time my senior year came around, I had the opportunity to take AP English, but I almost didn’t. I was terrified I would fail since I wasn't a good writer. Despite my fear, I decided to take the class. After our first assignment, my AP English teacher pulled me aside. She acknowledged that there were areas where I needed improvement but told me I had the potential to be one of the best writers in the class. I was shocked. Until then, I thought writing ability was something you were born with, not something you could develop. That class changed everything for me. My teacher didn’t just praise me; she taught me how to write—step by step, skill by skill. Her belief in me and her guidance transformed not only my writing but also how I saw myself. That experience has shaped who I am as a teacher. I believe writing is not an innate talent but a skill that can be learned, practiced, and improved. My goal is to give my students the tools and confidence to become better writers, no matter where they start. Writing is a skill that opens doors to countless educational and career opportunities, and I am passionate about helping my students succeed. In my private tutoring classes, I work with students on building strong writing skills and mastering grammar fundamentals. Students will learn how to write clear, compelling essays, organize research papers, refine creative writing pieces, and develop a solid understanding of grammar concepts like sentence structure, punctuation, and parts of speech. Students will be assessed during our first meeting to establish a baseline of their current writing and grammar abilities. This initial assessment helps me identify strengths, areas for improvement, and specific goals to tailor our lessons effectively. I will continue to assess progress once a month to ensure consistent growth, and I can provide more frequent assessments if requested by the family. These evaluations allow us to track improvement and adjust our approach as needed to help the student achieve their full potential. The topics covered will depend on each student’s needs, but commonly include: Essay writing: structure, thesis statements, introductions, conclusions, and evidence Research papers: citations, formatting, and research skills Grammar fundamentals: sentence construction, punctuation, and usage Test preparation: SAT, ACT, or other standardized writing and grammar sections Creative writing: crafting engaging narratives and descriptive language
