Grado de EE. UU. 1 - 4
In this 4 week self paced schedule class we will learn about 4 different artists (Picasso, Rousseau, Basquat, and Calliebotte) and create art pieces that are inspired by their work. We will talk about their genre of art, create pieces to be proud of, and learn about the artists through interactive games and scavenger hunts.

Learners will post pictures and/or video of their work (and their works in progress) on the classroom page so that fellow learners and the teacher can give feedback and encouragement on their pieces. It will be uplifting and helpful to the students and peer feedback will be fun!
Students will also engage with each other with interactive online games, scavenger hunts, fun trivia and games about the artists we will be talking about each week!
Here are the highlights for each week!

Week 1 - Pablo Picasso - We will discuss his life and his influence on modern art and Cubism. We will talk about his piece called Head of a Woman in a Hat, and students will then create their own masterpiece using crayon, marker, and watercolor based on his painting. We will talk about color, composition, creativity, and also the proper use of materials and clean up. The students will be able to create their piece based on this piece, but in their own style and with their own personality and creativity. They will post pictures of their work on the classroom page so that we can give feedback and encouragement to each learner.

Week 2 - Henri Rousseau- We will talk about Rousseau's life and work. We will look at his piece called Exotic Landscape with Lion and Lioness. His themes and his interesting use of line in his paintings. We will have some fun facts and online game interaction during the week.

Week 3 - Jean-Michel Basquiat- During this week we will look at the artist Basquiat. He was best known for his graffiti art and his unique style. We will talk about his life (age appropriate) and work and we will re-create one of his pieces using watercolor and crayon. We will do some puzzles related to this artist and the era.

Week 4 - Gustav Caillebotte - We will have fun exploring the little known artist Caillebotte. He was a French Impressionist artist who was known for his urban paintings of Paris. We'll talk about his life and his work. We will re-create his beautiful artwork using crayon and watercolor and students will have fun adding their own creativity to their piece. We will have some games and interaction that is based on his work.

The classes will be step by step allowing time for each learner to create their piece and be proud of what they create. The videos will be clear and provide at least 2 angles.

No experience is needed, but some parental help could be needed with the painting parts if the student is younger.

Orientación para padres
Parents are encouraged to be close by during the classes to help their learner with the painting process to minimize spills (especially with electronics close by!) and to make sure their paints and markers stay on the paper. Care will be given to keep the artist life and death (particularly the artist Basquiat) appropriate and not glorifying or discussing the drug use that may have been present for the artist.

I am excited to join Outschool as an art teacher! I LOVE art!
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art from the University of Central Florida with a concentration in painting. I have been teaching private art lessons for 25 years and have been teaching in the classroom for 19 years. I have taught pre school age through High School AP Drawing and AP 2D Design and everything in between.
I have 3 kids (ages 24, 22 and 13) and live in Orlando, Florida where I enjoy photography and streetpainting (chalk art) in my down time. I am a member of the Central Florida Chalk Artists Association and enjoy doing chalk art for events and non-profits. My daughter and I were actually featured on our local TV station back in April which was a lot of fun!
I love teaching students the art skills to be successful! I love to see students who think they can’t draw or paint find success and love what they created and be proud of it!
I like to engage students at their level and help them feel comfortable being creative, have a great time, learn about art even if they don’t realize they are learning along the way. I love to see the AHA moments they have when they create something they thought might be unachievable.
I think that students thrive when they start where they are and have lots of encouragement along the way! I am excited to be able to bring this to students around the country and the world!
