1-2 horas por semana. Learners will be expected to paint along with the second video, and create a Cuba self portrait from scratch.Evaluación
Art is subjective. For this reason I do not like to assign letter or number grades to art. I will provide helpful feedback though! Please note that I can only provide feedback if learners choose to share their artwork with me. I will not force learners to share art if they are uncomfortable doing so.Calificación

In this acrylic painting lesson, we will explore the cubism art movement and create a self-portrait inspired by cubist principles. This class consists a video broken down into 2 parts. First, We will do a quick overview if the history of cubism, highlighting some famous cubist artists and explaining the fundamental principles of the movement. Following that the video will guide learners through creating their own self-portrait from scratch using acrylic paint. I will demonstrate the process by drawing and painting my self-portrait based on my face. I will explain why I’m making the decisions I make to best guide learners in thwir own portrait. I recommend that learners. Pause the video as needed and paint along with me, but the video can always be watched first and the painting can be done after. Once learners have completed their self-portraits, I encourage everyone to share their creations in the classroom. I LOVE seeing everyone’s portraits because they are all so unique! I know that art is personal and feedback can be hard to hear sometimes. If learners do not want any feedback on their artwork, but they do want to share it, please ask for “no feedback please” when you post. Otherwise I am likely to offer some helpful tips. I hope you enjoy this class and have and much fun exploring this interesting movement as much as I do. More even, if that’s possible!
Metas de aprendizaje
Learners should learn the basics of cubism, and also create a Cuba self portrait. They will learn how to break free of the pressure to draw and paint, realistically. This will (hopefully) open learners up to experimenting more with their art.

I love to teach art, and specialize in drawing (wide variety of styles and techniques), procreate, watercolour, and acrylic painting. When I teach, I like to lead by example. This means that I draw, paint and create with my students. Throughout class I make myself available for questions, assistance and feedback.
I’ve been teaching art for over 5 years, and I have been creating art professionally since 2011. I have illustrated marketing materials for Denny’s, Newman’s Own, Duane Reade, Discovery Children’s Museum, The Mendes Foundation and other clients.
I also have extensive experience in advertising. I’ve been working as an art director (now creative director) for over 17 years. I worked in New York City for 10 years, Cambodia for one, and I currently work remotely out of my home office in Canada. In my advertising career I've made TV commercials, print campaigns, radio spots, online ads, videos and billboards (even some in Time Square.) I love thinking of cool ideas and bringing them to life. I am excited to share this skill with my students.
I believe that art is more than an applicable workplace skill. Art is a form of healthy self-expression and personal reflection. I also believe that art teaches the importance of patience and persistence. It is an education for the mind and soul.
For me, art is meditative. I own dozens of sketchbooks filled with drawings I’ve done throughout the years. Many pages contains a memory, emotion, thought or experience. As a mother, I find additional inspiration through my daughter and new son.
Art is everywhere, if you look for it. Children especially have a gift for finding beauty in the world. I hope to harness this gift so every child in my class can find their own unique, artistic voice.
