Experiencia de clase

If you would like me to open a different time for this course, please let me know. In the summer I'm very flexible.
In this one-time course, students will explore the world of Dr. Seuss! Teacher Rachel will read the story, Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss. As we are reading, I will stop and ask comprehension questions about the book. When the story is finished, the class will make Oobleck together. I will have my supplies and walk them through making Oobleck. We will also discuss chemical and physical changes.

This is a STEM activity. The topics that will be discussed are reading comprehension, science and art. My favorite thing about this lesson is that it integrates all these topics into one lesson. Dr. Seuss is so successful at engaging students of any age. The STEM activity can offer the opportunity for higher order thinking questions as well.

The class will begin with a phenomenon introduction. The class will be introduced to the weirdest things that have fallen from the sky. We will discuss things that we have seen fall from the sky. After discussion, I will read Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss. I will stop throughout the story and ask comprehension questions. When the story is finished, we will make Oobleck together. While we make Oobleck, we will discuss chemical and physcial changes. The class will wrap up with learners discussing their favorite things about this course and what they have learned today.
