Do you like looking at maps & learning about different countries? Me too! In this weekly geography club, we'll tour the world one country at time with my furry companion, Chuck! We're traveling the world as we learn about a new country each week. You never know where you'll find us!

We'll be reviewing maps of the world and the country to learn the location and which continent/region it belongs to. We'll also learn key facts including:

the capital
flag (and its meaning)
language(s)
types of currency
governmental leader/type of government
landmarks/well-known locations
elements of culture
animals
food
geography terms relative to the country
and MORE!

We might even have opportunities to create things outside of class like art or yummy treats! (Maybe we're learning about United Kingdom and England and we have tea together in class! Maybe we're learning about Japan and students share their origami creations!)

Students will also receive a country facts worksheet to complete each week, including a map, country flag, capital and more. The worksheet includes the passport stamp of the country of the week which students can cut out and glue into their printable passports. They may complete the worksheet during the lesson or after class to review. (It's up to you!) These worksheets can be saved to use as reference tools for future learning about each country!

Students will also be given related content in the form of video links, websites and sometimes worksheets or activities to review and extend their learning after each class as well. Students are also encouraged to talk, ask questions and share information about what they know about the country of the week, too! Shhhh ... don't tell them that they're having fun AND learning!

I absolutely love learning about new places and traveling! I have been teaching geography on Outschool for several years and have taught geography to my ESL students in Asia for several years. As a homeschool parent, we also learn geography and discuss it DAILY in our home.
