45 minutos horas de clase por semanaTarea
1 hora por semana. Each week we will have homework. We will discuss this during class. I will send out a homework sheet (if necessary) and we will review the homework at the beginning of the next lesson. Homework is not mandatory but is highly encouraged. It should only take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.Evaluación
I will send out feedback to the parents halfway through and at the end of the semester. I will check in with the parents sooner if the learner is struggling in a specific area. I always welcome questions/comments during the semester.Experiencia de clase

This semester long ongoing course covers the second half of first grade math. It has a total of 10 weeks. This is the same course as my 10 week semester class "Fun With First Grade Math: Semester 2". It is ongoing, so you may join/leave any week. Each week is a different math objective. I did this to accommodate virtual learners who are unsure of their schedule and possible changes during the semester. My classes are interactive and fun. The first half of the course is "Ongoing First Grade Math: Semester 1" or "Fun With First Grade Math: Semester 1". Learners should be familiar with numbers to 50, place value (ones, tens), commutative property, associative property, identity property of zero, skip counting, addition and subtraction to 20, and 2D shapes. I like to engage the children and we all problem solve together. I use props, a whiteboard, and fun animated PowerPoint slides during my lessons. I always encourage learner interaction and I check in occasionally with a thumb's up to make sure there are no questions before we proceed. I may send out a worksheet, homework or other material to be printed each week. I will also let you know if there are other materials that are needed for the week. Lessons for each week: Week of February 3: Numbers to 120 (count, read, write) Week of February 10: Place value (ones, tens, hundreds) Week of February 17: Addition and subtraction within 100 Week of February 24: Addition and subtraction within 100 Week of March 3: Strategies to solve word problems (key words, pictures, number line, number sentence) Week of March 10: Word problems using addition (3 whole numbers) Week of March 17: Word problems using addition/subtraction (adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, comparing) Week of March 24: Word problems using addition/subtraction (adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, comparing) Week of March 31: Word problems using money Week of April 7: Geometry (review 2D shapes, decomposing circles and rectangles, 3D Shapes) *We then repeat from the top*

Licenciatura en Psicología desde Mount Holyoke College
Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.
My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.
Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.
I look forward to this journey with you and your young learner. I will see you in the classroom.
