Qué está incluido

1 reunión en vivo
45 minutos horas de clase por semana
Tarea
1 hora por semana. Each week we may have 1 or 2 problems or a worksheet to do at home. We will discuss this during class. I will send out a homework sheet (if necessary) and we will review the homework at the beginning of the next lesson. Homework is not mandatory but is highly encouraged. It should only take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
Evaluación
I will check in with the parents if the learner is struggling in a specific area. I always welcome questions/comments during the semester.

Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 1
This semester long ongoing course covers the first half of first grade math. It has a total of 10 weeks. It is ongoing, so you may join/leave any week. Each week is a different math objective. I did this to accommodate virtual learners who are unsure of their schedule and possible changes during the semester. My classes are interactive and fun. I like to engage the children and we all problem solve together. I use props, a whiteboard, and fun animated PowerPoint slides during my lessons. I always encourage learner interaction and I check in occasionally with a thumb's up to make sure there are no questions before we proceed.

The topics for this semester by week:
Week of November 4: Numbers to 50 (count, read, write)
Week of November 11: Understanding place value (ones, tens, bundles)
Week of November 18: Understanding the properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction
Week of November 25: Math fact families (numbers to 10) - relationship between addition and subtraction
Week of December 2: Skip counting to 50 (by 2s, 5s, 10s)
Week of December 9: Addition/subtraction within 20 (objects, pictures, number line, counting on)
Week of December 16: Measurement and data (compare lengths, represent, and interpret data)
Week of December 23: Time (analog and digital – hour, half hour)
Week of December 30: Money (value, equivalent values)
Week of January 6: Geometry (2D shapes, compose new shapes, halves, quarters, whole)
*We then repeat from the top*

Lista de útiles escolares
The learners will need to print some worksheets at home. They should always have a notebook and pencil. Blocks of any kind (same length/size, different lengths/colors), and something to count (Cheerios, M&Ms, etc). I will send out an email ahead of time if materials are needed for the next class.

Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.

My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.

Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.

I look forward to this journey with you and your young learner. I will see you in the classroom.
