Welcome to the first ongoing veterinary escape room course on the Outschool platform! There are many other animal escape rooms but I decided to create this class specifically for children who think they may want to eventually work with animals professionally one day: veterinarians, vet technicians and assistants, zoo keepers, and more!

In vet school, vet students do not begin by choosing their animal species to learn. Instead, they learn them all! So this class is beneficial for all students considering the profession one day. This class is meant to be interactive and students should arrive to class prepared to participate. This class has fewer students than my other classes to allow students to have ample time to participate and be included. The class will function in this order:

5 minutes: Introductions and welcoming of all new students
10-15 minutes of instruction
15-20 minutes: Teacher-Led Escape Room
Remaining: Ending class, final questions, and goodbyes

What do I mean by "Teacher-Led" escape rooms? Students will receive new information about animal diseases, research, vet professions or the industry, etc during lecture. There are no week-by-week lecture topics listed because students will help create future classes and the escape room themes are always veterinary care. The photo to escape from will change weekly as will the questions and clues. Students do not need a secondary device to participate.

* PLEASE NOTE * Outschool and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) are very specific about guidelines and rules for diagnosing, treating, and prescribing. I am not a licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and even if I was, Outschool is very specific about rules for this during class. For students who inquire about live animals and pets they own, I will always recommend them see a local vet. Students will not be diagnosing, treating, or prescribing medications for their real animals.

Many students enrolling in this course have completed the 18-week Ongoing Course as well but it is not required:

Orientación para padres
There is nothing inappropriate and we do not talk about animal reproduction. However, pee, poop, puke, and farts are common everyday topics in the vet world and will be talked about time and time again. We use veterinary appropriate language such as rectum, uterus, colon, etc. When reproduction questions arise, I often respond, "We don't cover those topics in this particular class, but you can have your parent contact me via message after class and I'm happy to help"
Lista de útiles escolares
Paper and Pen for Notes if student prefers.
Paper and Pen to write down the clues for the code to escape the room.

Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
