Curriculum based measurement will be used to measure learning mastery. This can be done with a written or oral assessment, and are usually only 1-5 minutes in length. Students who become anxious with written forms of assessment can be assessed verbally in most situations.Calificación
Results of CBM (Curriculum-based measurements) will be provided to parents when requested. Advanced notice of these results would be appreciated. Parents should let me know if another form of assessment is preferred. While not guaranteed, requests will be seriously considered.Experiencia de clase

I can teach math or language arts (grammar, spelling, parts of speech, writing, etc.). If there is another area they need assistance in, please contact me through Outschool with your request. Students need to come to class with either an assignment for a school class that they need assistance with, or communication from the parent(s)/guardians(s) regarding specific learning to be addressed (including specific goals and/or outcomes they would like to see. If the student is using a particular curriculum, that would be helpful to know as well. Every child's progress is different. With more information concerning learning difficulties, better teaching and results can be expected.

For language arts, or any subject, students will be provided different means to achieve specific goals based on their current content knowledge (based on state standards). Basic skills must be mastered before new ones are taught, especially in math.

This class is intentionally designed to support students with specific learning disabilities. This includes students on IEPs that struggle with reading, writing, spelling, word recognition, math concepts, and/or ADHD.
Requisitos previos
This is learner-inclusive tutoring. The best online experience can be achieved if there is specific knowledge of where your student struggles: for example, current reading level, descriptions of specific math or reading issues.

Students can be taught using problems from the texts provided by their school. I don't typically use websites unless requested by the parent. I have an assortment of learning games available for teaching students who are easily distracted which can be viewed through the online platform. I often use realia (everyday items) and math manipulatives to teach math concepts and problem solving. For reading fluency, timed reading passages at the student's level will be used. Hands-on learning materials, such as the interactive white board provided by Outschool will allow students to follow along, contribute to their learning experience, and view presentations.

I have taught language arts, math, science, and social studies at the 4/5th grade levels for 6 years in a small California town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I had about 30 students per class, but prefer one-on-one and small group teaching.
