Welcome to One on One Tutoring for Creative Writing With a Twist! In this class learners will work on their creative writing skills in a fun and engaging way. This class will start like any other writing class. We will talk about the key elements a short story has, discuss what makes a good short story by adding details, using strong words, and edit our work. To make things a little more interesting each week students will pick 4 words from a list that they will have to include in their story. This list can be one that Ms. Katelynn generates or it can be a spelling list your learner brings with them. This class will encourage creative flexibility and understanding the meaning of words. It is important to note that each week will be learner directed. We will write stories based on themes they want to write about. Students may write one short story a week or choose to continue their story from the previous week. Here is an example of a weekly schedule: Week of January 1st: Discussion about key elements in short stories, deciding on a topic to write about, picking words to use in our story, discussing the meaning of the words, and writing a short story with as much or as little support from Ms. Katelynn as needed. Week of January 8th: Discussion about what makes a good short story, deciding on a topic to write about, picking words to use in our story, discussing the meaning of the words, writing a short story with as much or as little support from Ms. Katelynn as needed. Week of January 15th: Discussion about choosing stronger words, deciding on a topic to write about, picking words to use in our story, discussing the meaning of the words, and writing a short story with as much or as little support from M.s Katelynn as needed. Week of January 22nd: Discussion about editing, deciding on a topic to write about, picking words to use in our story, discussing the meaning of the words, writing a short story with as much or as little support from Ms. Katelynn as needed.
