Experiencia de clase

Because this class is one on one and customized, I have made it available by request only. If you have a question about scheduling or you would like to book this class, please either message me or click on "Request this class". Thank you!

This class is built to help learners who love photography to explore deeper and possibly find what they are best at and develop their style. In this class, students will have one on one time with Tamea who has worked in many specialties in photography and will be happy to pass on specialized information for each student.

Lesson one: This lesson will be about assessing the learner's photography experience and what their goals as a young photographer are. -We will look at photos the learner has made in the past (Please be ready to share photos you are proud of, working on, and /or have questions about)
-We will go over the learner's camera and how comfortable they are with it. While I do not require a manual mode camera (DSLR, mirrorless or similar) it would be beneficial to have a manual mode camera to get the most out of the instruction in the class.

Lesson two: This class is designed to be customized to the learner's level or ability and their specific interests in photography. That said, in this lesson we will look at example photos from the instructor and go over improvements that the student wanted to make in their own work. We will go over the camera settings required to make the changes, as well as what the camera settings actually do in order to make the changes. Fully understanding how your camera works is a huge asset to any young photographer. We will also be getting project one for this class. We will go over the project assignment as well as ways to plan for completing the project.

Lesson three: In this lesson we will work on the process of a "re-shoot" and editing. What edits do we want to make? What kinds of things would we do differently if we wanted to work on making these photos again? In this lesson, based on the photos made by the student and the information passed along in the lesson, we will explore our next mini project.

Lesson four: In this final lesson, we will work on going over the changes they made from project one to project two and critique the photos. We will also go over continuing projects or techniques to work on to continue their photographic journey.

Metas de aprendizaje

The goal in this class is to build a portfolio and learn about our cameras and become much more confident photographers.

Otros detalles

Orientación para padres
I ask that all photos made by the students be free of any violence or anything that might put the photographer or subject in danger.
Lista de útiles escolares
-Each student must have access to a camera and should bring it to class. While I do suggest manual mode cameras (DSLR or Mirrorless cameras) If a student would like to explore using a film camera or a cell phone, it is fine as well.
-I will also ask that students bring photos that they have made before the beginning of class. These photos will be used to assess the student's level and expertise in photography. (Please have these photos saved on the computer being used for the class. That way we can share screen and we can both see the beautiful details in the photo)
-Each student should have an editing program of some kind. It could be the editing software that comes on the computer (iPhoto) or an on line service like pixlr. There are also options like photoshop or lightroom which I will be using in class to demonstrate. They are in a bundle subscription of $9.99 a month at adobe.com

    Hello there!
    Who am I?!
Hi! I'm Tamea! I'm a photographer and I have been a professional photographer for more than 10 years. In that time I am proud to have been published in Billboard Magazine, in Calendars, on clothing and merchandise, and publications around the world. I specialize in travel, live events, and portrait photography and I bring each of these specialities to my classes. I have been teaching and sharing my love of photography for years, and I am glad to be here to share my love of photography with your learner!

Thanks to wonderful teachers I have had in my life, I went from taking pictures and developing them in a dark room for fun, to taking pictures that were published around the world.

I welcome you to see my work at photobytamea.com. While we will focus on many kinds of photography in class, you can see samples of my own work here.

In my photography classes, I will use hands on activities and kind critiques to advance learning and confidence in taking pictures.

When I am not here, I am always with my cameras and take pictures even on my days off. My favorite photo adventures always include my puppy, Chaplin, who loves to tag along. She will be in some of my photo examples in classes. She's a cutie!

    General Class Policies:

    - Most important! My classroom is a safe and inclusive place! Learners are expected to treat each other with kindness and respect. Bullying will not be tolerated and I reserve the right to remove any student who treats other learners disrespectfully.
    - If a scheduled class does not meet the minimum enrollment, I may contact the parent approximately 24 hours before class time to offer to either transfer their learner to a new day and time. If requested, I may choose to teach the class at the original time.
    - Classes will begin on time, even if all learners have not yet arrived.
    - If no learners are present in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes into the scheduled time before exiting the classroom. This will be considered a Student no show.
    - If I am late because of having technical challenges myself, I will offer to stay late to make up the missed time, or transfer learners to a new session.
-Please note: Outschool requires verification of each learner. This means that unless Outschool has verified your learner, I will require learners to turn on their live cameras for a beginning of class check in. If cameras are not working or learners are not comfortable with this, please contact Outschool help for verification before class begins. Learner's may be placed in the waiting room while they are resolving their camera issues. I will not offer transfers or refunds in the event that this policy is not followed. This is for the safety and security of learners on the platform.
