This is a student- driven class. Students should come prepared with questions and materials. However, I will supplement with activities, math games, math fact drills as needed, based on student needs! 

I help with requested specific skills, homework questions, etc. I can help with grades 5-8 math, prealgebra and algebra topics. If you don't have a specific assignment, I will supplement based on the students needs. Topics covered will include:

The Number System:  Integers, fractions, decimals, rational numbers and operations with all the above

Percents and Proportions and their applications

Algebraic thinking: solving expressions and equations

Geometry: working with angles, finding perimeter and area, applications of geometry that involve algebra

Statistics and Probability

I pride myself on being patient, understanding student's discomfort with math, and helping them become more confident. I do this by building a relationship with the student, gentle redirection if a question is incorrect, frequent encouragement, and I also help students break down me complicated problems into easier to understand pieces.
