This class is for students who love to write! Writers of all skills between the ages of 11-13 are welcome! We will cover the basics of character development, planning a story, and finding your voice as an author. Students will learn about different perspectives of writing such as first person, third person, and third person omniscient (a narrator that sees and knows everything). 

We will also learn about what makes up a plot including: Exposition (Introduction), Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Denouement (Conclusion). During this, student's will also learn about the Hero's Journey and how to use it to assist in creating characters and plot. 

We will discuss what elements fit into different genres of stories and how to combine those elements to create unique and exciting concepts. 

Students will work on their own short story through class with the goal of having it completed by the end of the class.
