You will learn the essentials of oil painting, including color mixing, brush techniques, layering, and creating texture. We’ll cover color theory, blending, composition, light and shadow, and different painting techniques like glazing and impasto. Each class will start with a short demonstration, followed by hands-on practice. You’ll work on individual projects, building skills week by week. I’ll guide you through step-by-step demonstrations and provide personalized feedback as you work on your painting. My teaching style is relaxed and supportive, encouraging creativity while offering practical tips and techniques tailored to each student's skill level.

Oil painting involves materials that require special care for safety. Here are the precautions we take to ensure a safe environment for all students:
Non-toxic Materials: We should use high-quality, non-toxic oil paints and solvents wherever possible. However, oils and certain mediums can still have strong odors, so proper ventilation is ensured at all times.
Protective Gear: Students should be provided with aprons or smocks to protect their clothing from any spills or stains.
Handwashing: We encourage frequent handwashing, especially after handling paints or brushes, to prevent accidental ingestion or contact with sensitive areas like the face.
Safe Storage: All paints, solvents, and other materials will be stored securely.
Ventilation: The workspace is well-ventilated to reduce exposure to any fumes from paints or mediums.
