🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 In this one time story and "cooking" class, the students will create an edible Christmas tree and get into the holiday spirit. Class will begin with a story called The Golden Christmas Tree by Jan Wahl. We will discuss the events of the story as it is read. The students will follow step by step instructions to "frost" their tree trying out different swirls and twirls. They will then decorate their tree with a variety of candies. The students will be encouraged to share their trees with the other students, if they feel comfortable doing so. The best part of the class will be eating the yummy tree. Oh, Christmas tree! 🎄🎄🎄

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom. My name is Betty Nilssen. I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I incorporate math, writing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers, as well.
