Who was Hypathia? Aung San Suu Kyi? Bessie Coleman? Zheng Yi Sao? During the month of March join us and discover who these women were/are, and the contributions they have made. Celebrate Women's History Month by learning about some of the lesser known women who have changed the world. Students will participate in a class that presents information about each woman using slides, videos, readers theatre, handouts, games and/or activities. The classes are designed to be interactive and students are encouraged to participate, ask questions and contribute to the conversation. The lives of these women are/were not without challenges and trials, the good, bad and ugly will be taught in class including slavery, assault, and death. Some classes may include sensitive information about women that include physical or sexual assault, torture, sex as a commodity, slavery, and even death. Students should be mature enough to absorb and understand the content that will be taught in an age appropriate manner.

As an educator for nearly 20 years who has studied history and women's studies, the sensitive topics covered in the class will be handled in an age appropriate manner. Students should be mature enough to learn about these darker times of women's history. The good, bad and ugly will be taught in a way that humanizes the woman and helps learners understand how her story enhances the contribution(s) she has made.
