I will be teaching tips to learn how to spell the first five numbers: one, two, three, four, five. Students should already be comfortable recognizing the letters in uppercase and lowercase forms, as well as making their basic sounds (for example, recognizing that "F" and "f" make the "ffffffffff" sound). Class Structure: 1) Introduction - Bring your race cars! We will say our names and make race car noises 2) Practice our sight words - techniques will include writing with our fingers in the air, saying the letters out loud, seeing visual cues for spelling the words. 3) Continue sight word practice with games and activities - these might include hiding cars and reading words to find them, matching cars to the specific sight words, calling letters out loud to spell our words, dry erase writing, and more. We may talk about racing but there is no student who will be called the winner or loser of any activity. 4) Wrap up with more fun conversation about cars and reviewing our work today. My style is to be energetic for the activities and to care about the needs of each learner.
