1. What will be taught? This class will teach students how to take effective, organized notes that help them remember key information from their reading. They’ll learn how to identify important details, summarize them quickly, and use their notes to boost reading comprehension. 2. What topics will you cover? Why Note-Taking Matters: Understanding how notes can help improve memory and comprehension. Effective Note-Taking Methods: Exploring strategies like the “Key Idea + Detail” method, bullet points, and diagrams. Highlighting Key Information: Identifying what to focus on when reading and making notes. Organizing Notes: Keeping notes tidy and easy to review for later use. 3. How is your class structured? Intro (5 minutes): Brief introduction explaining why smart note-taking is important for understanding what they read. Note-Taking Demo (10 minutes): Show how to take notes using a sample text (short passage from a children’s classic or engaging story). Activity: Ask students to read a passage and highlight key ideas, then take notes in a simple, structured way. Interactive Practice (10 minutes): Students take notes from a new passage. Encourage them to organize their thoughts and share with the group. Wrap-Up & Review (5 minutes): Recap what students learned about effective note-taking. Offer a challenge: How can they use notes in their next reading session? 4. How will you teach? Demonstration-Based: First, I will demonstrate how to take notes using a short text and discuss the process. Then students will practice on their own with feedback. Interactive Exercises: Students will actively participate in note-taking and share their notes for discussion. Visual Learning: Use slides or screen-sharing to highlight key ideas and examples. 5. What’s your teaching style? Supportive and Hands-On: I encourage students to try taking notes independently while providing guidance. The class will focus on making sure students feel comfortable experimenting with their note-taking. Fun and Engaging: Incorporate fun examples and relatable material (such as short stories or book excerpts) that students find interesting. 6. How much will learners get to interact with you? Interactive Practice: Students will take notes from a passage during class, and I’ll provide individual or small group feedback. Q&A and Discussion: Throughout the class, I’ll ask questions like “What’s the main idea here?” or “Which details do you think are important?” This encourages critical thinking and discussion. Games: Use quick note-taking challenges (such as “Guess the Key Idea” game), where students summarize the content in a few words, and I provide feedback on their approach. Real-Time Feedback: I will provide suggestions on how to improve their notes during activities, encouraging them to ask questions or share thoughts.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn how to be effective note takers. It will help them with class reports or reading comphension. This skill can be developed through their learning career. This class can be carried to university and beyond to employment.

I have taught ESL for 5 years on many platforms, not just to Chinese children, but for children all over the world. My main experience comes from teaching and volunteering 20 plus years to children in church classes, my community, and Boy Scouts of America settings.
I've taught children to sing, to play, to think, and helped them develop skills in their lives so they could become better adults and better humans in their communities.
I believe a child has a right to be protected and heard. I will show respect to them and I hope for the same from them. I want to do my best to bring out the best in children and let them know they are wanted and validated. They have wisdom beyond their years and we as adults need to stop and listen to them. They see things we can't see.
I'm excited to get to know your child in my classroom. I may be simple in teaching without to many bells and whistles but I've got heart, kindness, patience and a fun sense of play and humor to my personality. See you in the classroom.
