Performing Shakespeare can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be! I used to be terrified of Shakespeare, but once I learned how to break it down, I realized how fun and exciting his work can be. This one-time masterclass is designed to make Shakespeare’s language easy to understand and perform. Through practical techniques, engaging exercises, and guided scene work, students will gain the confidence to approach any Shakespearean role. By the end of the day, we’ll put these skills into action with a condensed performance of Romeo and Juliet! WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS COURSE No Fear Shakespeare is a space for actors to break down the barriers of Shakespeare’s language and learn to perform his text naturally. We’ll focus on: - Making Shakespeare’s words feel effortless and conversational - Understanding rhythm, iambic pentameter, and poetic devices - Strengthening vocal and physical performance techniques - Bringing characters to life with confidence and authenticity WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW - Because this is a performance-based class, students are encouraged to attend in a space where they can speak and move freely - Current students of Katie’s can get a discount for leaving a rating and review on their current classes. Orientación para padres
This class does not include any content that may be upsetting or scary to learners. However, since we’ll be performing Romeo and Juliet, parents should be aware that the play includes themes of love, conflict, and tragic death, including a brief suicide scene. While we will be focusing on the language and performance aspects, it’s important to note that some younger or more sensitive students may find these themes intense.
There are no additional safety precautions required, but students are encouraged to participate in a space where they can move freely during performance exercises.
No third-party tools or accounts are required for this class.

I am currently pursuing a Theatre Education Degree at Utah State University, where I have studied Shakespeare's works along with vocalization techniques and movement methods.
I have taught acting and theatre for over four years, working with students of all ages, from children to adults. My teaching experience includes semester-long courses, week-long intensives, and private lessons in both online and in-person formats. I have also directed and cast various shows for students aged 14 and up and spent three years working as an assistant director and teacher’s assistant in a high school theatre program.
I am deeply passionate about making Shakespeare accessible and enjoyable for learners of all ages, and I believe every student has the potential to tackle the Bard’s language with the right tools and guidance.
